A French estate is all I ever wanted

When I finally had my own French real estate property, it was only then that I fully understood why my best pal is just so obsessed acquiring one. She said he could willingly and bravely leave home and have a new life in France. I tried to help her find some information of French property just to get done with her obsession. And it took as no time to find a French real estate property that she immediately had fallen in love with. We have no idea on French property laws and not too familiar w

Make France your home

French fries, French kiss, French toast, French curves; I guess people think all good stuff are French made. But do you also think a French real estate property is also as good? Well if you could trust me as much I would say it’s better. I live in the center of France and I could say it’s a place close to heaven. I never have imagined I would own a French real estate property but look at me now; I’m enjoying a home away from home! Owning this estate would be next to impossible if not for the

A move you would never regret

I just got married (happily married that is) a couple of years ago and what else can I ask for; I’m married to a young, loving and sensible guy so I’ve been imagining of growing old with him in my parents’ old house. I lived my whole life in here so I was really glad I still live here even after getting married. As a born traveler my hubby had always wanted to live in France, I don’t know why but he is just so in live with the country. And one day, he dropped the bomb! He had purchased a Frenc

US empire will survive Bush

John McCain or Barack Obama may reshape US foreign policy. But neither will abandon the imperial status and mission of the US. The United States may emerge from the Iraq fiasco almost unscathed. Though momentarily disconcerted, the American empire will continue on its way, under bipartisan direction and mega-corporate pressure, and with evangelical blessings. It is a defining characteristic of mature imperial states that they can afford costly blunders, paid for not by the elites but the (…)

Sainte Maxime III: Babar the elephant

Two posts ago I wrote about the beautiful village Sainte Maxime, where Jean de Brunhoff lived, the creator of “Babar the Elephant”.
The next day I passed a bookshop in my beloved village Valbonne and the first thing I saw in the window was a Babar book! Turns out it still is a very popular French children’s character now, in 2008, though the first Histoire de Babar appeared in 1931! The first English language version (The Story of Babar) saw the light in 1933 -in Britain and the United States. The story is based on the bedtimer stories that Cecile Brunhoff (his wife) made up for their kids. They are about a young elephant thatleaves the jungle to the big city, and comes back with the knowledge and benefits of civilization for his fellow elephants.
Jean de Brunhoff only wrote 6 stories - he died in 1937 - only 37 years old. His son Laurent carried on with the series. In 1989, Babar hit the television screens as a cartoon, with 78 episodes. They were broadcast in 30 languages, in over 150 countries. The Babar brand worked: there are 12 dedicated Babar stores in Japan, and over 30,000 Babar publications, in 17 languages worldwide, and over 8 million books have been sold. Not a bad way to go for a bedtime story that started 80 years ago…!Next posts will be about the paintings of the Marina Artists’ team again - they are ready for handing out by the RHF-agents at their respective signatures he coming weeks but we don’t want to spoil the surprise for their future owners!

French novelist Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio has been awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize for literature.
